When and where do I report my address after moving?
If you have registered as a foreigner and you move, you must report it within 15 days of moving into your new home. This is called a change of residence report (체류지 변경 신고).
Choose one of three places.
- The community service center (주민센터) or city, county, or district office (시·군·구청) of your new address
- The immigration office (출입국·외국인관서) for your new address: book a visit on HiKorea first.
- HiKorea online services (하이코리아 전자민원): accepted on weekdays 07:00~22:00.
You need your ARC, passport, a report form, and a document showing the move. A lease or a sales contract works. There is no fee.
F-4 holders who filed a domestic residence report (국내거소신고) have a 14-day deadline.
If you don't report, you could be fined up to 1 million won. Even if a Korean family member filed a move-in report (전입신고), foreign family members must report separately.
If your name, nationality, or passport number changes, report it separately to the immigration office within 15 days. A change of school or job may also need to be reported.
Be sure to check your own situation with 1345 or an immigration office.
